Hand Spears definitely have some advantages that are worth considering. Firstly, they are economical, as well as lightweight and small. Especially for beginners, they are easy to use and a great start into your spearfishing adventure. But also for more advanced spearfishers, it can sometimes be interesting to go back to basics and in some regions they are the only devices allowed to spearfish with.
A hand spear is essentially a long pole with a spear attached to the tip; this can be a single or tri-tip spear.
